MUSICIANS' MENTAL HEALTH
& WELLNESS FUND
In partnership with The Head & The Heart's Rivers & Roads Foundation and fellow Seattle music community members Stone Gossard, Susan Silver, Lily Cornell Silver, and Maggie Savarino, brought together by Nicole Vandenberg, SMASH offers free and low-cost mental health treatment through our Musicians Mental Health & Wellness Fund.
MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES
We’ve compiled a list of mental health resources, programs, and services from city, county, state, and other nonprofit organizations to help those in the Seattle area struggling with their mental health. These resources include help with getting access to low-cost and free therapy, substance use disorder treatment and more.

As a self-employed musician, my income changes a lot. How do I figure out if I make less than the income limits?SMASH looks at net monthly income when determining whether you meet the income limit for your household size. As a self-employed musician, there are a couple of ways you can determine your net monthly income. The easiest ways are to: Look at your tax refund from the previous filing year and find the line that gives you your "Business Income or (loss)" amount. If your income has stayed mostly the same, you can use this number. Use your most recent three-month profit and loss statement to find your monthly income. This is determined by taking each month's gross earnings and subtracting that month's total of allowable IRS business expenses. If your income has changed a lot, this is the best number to use. If your income has changed significantly from last year, and you're not 100% sure what the amount of your expenses were--you can figure out your net monthly household income by using DSHS’ standard deduction of 20% of the household’s gross earned income for your last month of income.
